Position Summary

 

This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Analytical Lab. This includes day-to-day management, development, providing direction, scheduling, and staffing of the Technicians/Chemists.

This role also requires the incumbent to effectively communicate information gained from support of the lab to its owners and functional groups.

The incumbent must have the skills to build a strong team that can deliver results.

Accountabilities / Job Responsibilities

Analytical Lab Manager

  • Review Fiori lab projects for objective of the project and expected result.  Reach out to the requester for missing information and/or samples.  Establish a plan to perform the project, assigning as required and provide/communicate results once validated.
  • Investigate cause of customer and/or production non-conformances and provide solutions to resolve the problem. 
  • Support QC department on batch adjustments and approvals.
  • Provide formulation guidance as necessary.
  • Support Sales Team and CTS by providing technical support such as product recommendations, conduct physical and chemical tests on properties of inks as requested by customers, investigation of complaints.
  • Manage operation and maintenance of analytical and other test equipment.  Review for accuracies and interpret results to solve customer complaints and non-conformances.
  • Develop new or improve existing ink systems based on customer needs, establish specifications that meet customer requirements.
  • Recommend alternate materials for production when material used in existing formula is not available. 
  • Watch for opportunities to use up dormant or non-conforming products (Detox program)
  • Support training initiatives for the team such as safety, technical, ink formulation and raw materials.
  • Manage Time & Attendance, review process for the team.
  • Submission of analytical requests as necessary specifying issues and expected result.
  • Periodic reviews of conditions of laboratory equipment and the need for new or replacement equipment.
  • Maintain highest standards of housekeeping, safety, and employee morale.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Post Secondary Education in chemistry or chemical Engineering desired
  • Related work experience in a Manufacturing environment.
  • Proven Leadership Skills, team building and facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication and reporting skills.
  • Familiarity with ink application technology and chemistry (or related technologies)
  • Strong computer skill set including demonstrated MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Established communication, presentation and reporting capabilities.
