The Key Account Specialist is responsible for managing, selling, and servicing a designated customer account base in our Southeast Region. The ideal candidate will be based out of South Carolina (Spartanburg, Anderson, Greenville) will consider Atlanta and Charlotte for experienced candidates. This role will optimize the company’s position by improving revenue and margin in accordance with established National Account goals and objectives.


This Key Account Specialist owns plant level relationships with national accounts within the region. Is responsible for the value-added service provided by Sun Chemical within these locations and owns the local growth plan execution. The role is responsible for identifying opportunities to service the customer more effectively and efficiently through site-by-site P&L analysis. This role is the first level contact with site operations, troubleshooting any operational issues and involving technical service when necessary to resolve challenges and propose operational efficiencies.


The Key Account Specialist ensures site-by-site alignment with growth targets while providing daily operational efficiency and continuity of material supply. The role is integrated with decision makers and operational stakeholders within the customer’s organization, is highly organized to leverage Sun Chemical’s capabilities with our customers and is highly communicative with both the customer and within Sun Chemical to ensure alignment.


The incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Developing a consultative, value-added strategy to optimize opportunities for growth within the territory.

  • Collaborating with internal resources including Manufacturing, Product Management, Technical Service, Regulatory and Customer Service to provide the highest standard of service.

  • Function as a gateway to the depth and breadth of Sun Chemical’s market leading technology for Inks, Coatings, Consumables and next-generation sustainable products and technologies. 

  • Learn and understand the customers operating reality, providing voice of the customer feedback to Sun Chemical.

  • Develop and maintain account level strategies, identifying key buying factors, stakeholders, decision makers and influencers. Develop value propositions specific to each customer and their needs.

  • Partner with the Sales Director to develop volume/revenue/margin targets and strategize how to meet those targets.

  • Recognize and understand competitive threats and opportunities, developing strategies to protect existing customer base and capture new business.

  • Manage day-to-day territory needs through customer interaction, communicating using a blend of live visits and remote tools to stay engaged across the customer portfolio as appropriate. I


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Min. (3) years of demonstrated successful sales or technical sales experience, preferably in the printing ink, flexible packaging or commercial sheetfed industry. Experience in Chemical Distribution Sales, Graphic Arts Sales, or Printing. History of professional sales accomplishments.

  •  Prior experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, or other CRM software.   

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Undergraduate degree in a technical discipline, Business Administration, or other relevant area of study desired.

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 60% (local and regional)
