POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: The role manages master data for Color Materials products and ensuring regulatory data compliance with global and regional legislations such as GHS, TSCA, and EU REACH. The position carries responsibility for Safety Data Sheets of sales products and intermediates within Color Materials.

 

The individual will support various departments, including product management, sales, procurement, R&D, quality management, trade control, and IT regarding regulatory requests on a global level, while also providing support during official audits by authorities. As an additional responsibility, the role includes developing and maintaining an Access Database for customer-specific regulatory needs, with the expectation of becoming a successor and back-up for two colleagues who will retire in the coming years.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: 

  • Requesting and evaluation of product safety-relevant master data of the assigned Sun Chemical Color Materials portfolio
  • Classification and labelling of products in scope in accordance with global and country-specific chemical legislations and industry-specific regulations
  • Maintenance of product master data and creation of Safety Data Sheets within the Sun Chemical system Atrion, based on Sphera intelligent authoring software.
  • Maintenance and development of MS Access Databases designed for creation of Regulatory documents
  • Continuous review of the assigned products in accordance with legal requirements, voluntary commitments or business needs
  • Identifying regulatory threats that could affect the marketing of products and developing solutions while considering possible competitive advantages
  • Performing ad hoc analyses to improve data quality and detect data errors/inconsistencies at an early stage
  • Advising other units within Sun Chemical (Production, Product Management, QR, R&D, Sales, Trade Control, Procurement, etc.) on regulatory issues

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, in natural sciences or economics (preferably in chemistry). Master’s degree preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of MS Access and Excel as well as knowledge of SAP R/3 business software and Sphera Intelligent Authoring.
  • Extensive specialist knowledge in the areas of chemicals legislation (GHS, TSCA, and EU REACH) and product safety
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in the chemical industry
  • Excellent communication skills
  • High degree of team spirit

 

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: Full-time/Exempt 

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENT: 5-10%, internal meetings in the US & Europe
