Job Summary
The MRP Controller role is responsible for planning and coordinating production schedules, material requirements, inventory control, and shipping activities to ensure customer demand is met efficiently. The role works closely with Production, Logistics, Customer Service, and other plant departments to support daily operations and maintain accurate system data.
Essential Job Functions
- Develop and implement production plans and finite schedules for the site by coordinating balance between production and quality requirements and capacity.
- Utilizing developed production schedules, manage MRP and inventory activities, coordinate shipments and align resources to meet customer requirements while maximizing operational efficiency.
- Liaison between site and internal customer service department regarding all questions and concerns pertaining to orders, updates to production and shipping statuses. Manage all site communication as needed regarding production fulfillment of orders and to proactively provide information and planning assistance to fulfill customer requests.
- Determine daily shipping priorities, direct shipping and receiving operators in loading proper shipments and prepare necessary paperwork (ex. Bill of Lading, Packing Sheets,) along with entering necessary transactions in SAP. This includes tanker shipments.
- Manage communication and monitor logistics for all shipments leaving the site, including tanker shipments which are scheduled directly with trucking companies. Determine who and when shipments will be sent and interact with 3rd party logistic services related to customer delivery issues.
- Lead physical inventory process for site including scheduling and directing internal teams for associated tasks and leading investigations into any inventory discrepancies.
- Process all administrative transactions within SAP pertaining to physical inventory, scheduling, production outputs and shipments.
- Investigate any SAP discrepancies based on cycle counts and correct as needed.
- Manage and process all paperwork with internal customer service department regarding returned products or containers.
- Interact continuously with all aspects of plant operations including production, logistics, customer service, laboratories, maintenance, etc.
- Clerical responsibilities such as filing, incoming phone calls, and other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent; Associates Degree preferred
- 3+ years relevant experience in inventory planning and control or production scheduling.
- Ability to solve problem issues related to production delays, material shortages, inventory discrepancies, shipping concerns, customer delivery challenges and system data accuracy.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; proficiency in SAP helpful
- Strong attention to detail and track record of achieving results with accuracy and precision
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, in order to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Independent judgement to identify problems, implement solutions and minimize disruptions to plant operations and customer service. The role will operate with limited supervision and need to be able to identify when there are processes to follow and if there is only partial or conflicting data, be able to use judgement to determine appropriate steps and understand when to escalate to management.
