Engineer & Maintenance Manager - Hartwell, GA
The Engineer & Maintenance Manager will manage capital projects, engineering staff, maintenance technicians and maintenance staff to ensure corporate and site goals and objectives are achieved in both the short and long term.
Responsibilities:
- Organize capital & maintenance projects, prepare capital & maintenance budgets and report on status. Controls labor and materials usage, maximizing overall productivity and reviewing variances to budget for continuous improvement.
- Champion for the Operation Excellence (OpEx) activities and reports. Coordinate activities, determine the basis for cost justifications and track key performance indicators.
- Perform engineering designs for various projects and review designs from other engineers.
- Review capital project authorization requests (CAR) and capital project closer to ensure project objectives are aligned with stakeholders and met. Includes oversight of Management of Change (MOC) and all applicable safety reviews.
- Prioritize and manage all activities with the process/project engineers and the maintenance team.
- Manage and ensure compliance for the site Mechanical Integrity Program.
- Establish the performance standards for reliability engineering, mechanical integrity, and maintenance, and develop the method of measurement to provide timely and routine communications and feedback to all stakeholders.
- Exercise financial planning and control of maintenance costs by developing and maintaining annual budgets. Ensure that ongoing proficiency training is conducted to improve skills and to keep current with technology. Ensure that adequate funding and staffing are required to meet maintenance requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Site contact for all maintenance budget activities, utilities usage, and planning.
- Ensure maintenance activities are performed in a safe manner and that all required MSHA regulations are met.
- Provide an example of leadership.
- Review and generate capital requests
- Interaction outside the site as required for project safety reviews, Operational Excellence, Management of Change, engineering support, and networking activities.
- Approve expense expenditures, determine appropriate discipline in concert with HR and administer as required, improve work practices, and allocation of approved resources. Careful planning, forecasting, and scheduling as required to minimize interruptions to operations, which could cause considerable loss of production, time and cost.
Education & Experience:
- Engineering degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical. Other degrees will be considered based on associated manufacturing and/or engineering experience. Working knowledge of functions and design of plant equipment, processes, industrial and personnel administration, repair and maintenance of equipment and ability to prepare, administer, and monitor departmental budgets
- 7-10 years technical engineering and/or maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, with exposure to capital project implementation and maintenance principles and practices.
- Supervisory experience
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with Mine Safety & Heath Administration (MSHA) regulatory requirements is a plus
