Minerals Process Engineer - Hartwell, GA
The Minerals Process Engineer will be responsible for supporting production processes at the site by evaluating current operating conditions, evaluating performance compared to established KPIs and assisting in the management of process changes as needed. This position also directs mining activities during the mining season, oversees impound development, and offers input for the development of strategic mining plans for the site. In addition, this position will execute capital projects as needed for the above responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Execute Project related duties (Capital Authorization Requests, Quotations, Purchase Reqs, etc.)
- Direct mining activities (determine location of mining for the season, orchestrate blending of ore bodies, collection of samples for eval by Quality Lab, determine effectiveness of mining crew)
- Assist in the development of all aspects of strategic mining plan (future impounds, water sources, mineral sources)
- Analyze Process Metrics and evaluate effectiveness of the Operations departments in meeting those metrics
- Assist in Continuous Improvement and Process Improvement related discussions and activities, including design efforts (CAD, analysis) for those improvements
- Meeting participation for communicating the status of activities for which this position is responsible
Education & Experience:
- BS in an Engineering field; Civil or Minerals Engineering focus would be considered a plus.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office & AutoCAD.
- Highly motivated, self-driven individual with a continuous-improvement mindset and ability to work with minimal supervision and with different levels of personnel inside/outside org & cross-functional teams.
- Excellent time-management skills and ability to balance responsibilities for given priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to think critically to provide timely and effective solutions.
- Excellent organizational skills with clear, concise verbal and written communication skills.
- Fundamental understanding of basic Civil Engineering principles.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of surface metal/non-metal mining practices
- Ability to effectively analyze cause-effect relationships and drive to root cause for directed improvement efforts.
- Utilize continuous improvement tools and methodologies to drive sustainable improvements
- Knowledge of MSHA and associated requirements
