POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

The Maintenance Supervisor supervises the activities of a crew of 7 maintenance mechanics & E&I Tech. Provide oversight to outside contractors where needed. Schedule resources (equipment, material, and human resources) to accomplish the work in a safe, timely, quality conscious, efficient & cost-effective manner.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides leadership and oversight to a crew of 7 unionized maintenance mechanics within a 24- hour, 5-day manufacturing environment.
  • Requisitions, schedules, and provides field oversight of resources, outside contractors, and suppliers of maintenance services performing work at the site.
  • Handles emergency schedule breakers with available resources.
  • Utilizes SAP Plant Maintenance effectively to manage work orders.
  • Collaborates with the Maintenance Planner, Maintenance Coordinator and Reliability Engineer to ensure work orders and resources are prioritized to meet the needs of the site.
  • Develops the equipment maintenance knowledge and decision-making capability of the work crew.
  • Prepares, communicates, and maintains written records of employee performance, time, & attendance.
  • Facilitates safety awareness & training initiatives (confined space entry, lock-out tag-out, hot work, line break as well as other structured safety programs). Demonstrate ability to act as Rescue and/or Supervisor for Confined Space Entry activities. Participate in activities to promote and improve site process safety as required.
  • Manages activities within the negotiated union contract.
  • Troubleshoots quality and process problems in collaboration with production supervisors and engineers.
  • Works in conjunction with the Site Process Engineer to maintain and improve plant.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Successful non-degreed candidate will have at least 3 - 5 years of supervisory experience in an industrial maintenance environment.
  • Hands-on experience in the mechanical maintenance of machinery and process equipment is essential to the role. Examples of equipment include centrifugal pumps, fans, conveyors, rotary valves, high-temperature furnaces & ovens, gearboxes, agitators and other rotating equipment.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, analytical thinking, communication, customer focus, and the ability to train others in the use of tools & procedures related to mechanical maintenance activities.

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • An undergraduate degree in mechanical or electrical engineering and 5 – 7 years of supervisory experience (preferably in an industrial environment).
  • SAP PM experience.
  • Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
