Are you ready to embark on an exciting journey into the world of pigment manufacturing? We're looking for a passionate Quality Control Lab Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you'll have the unique opportunity to work hand-in-hand with Process Chemists, gaining invaluable knowledge and skills essential to pigment production.

 

As a QC Lab Technician, you'll dive into the heart of our operations, learning to meticulously monitor every aspect of the pigment manufacturing process. Your primary focus will be on ensuring that our final products meet rigorous quality standards while maintaining safety and cost-effectiveness on a daily basis.

 

Work Schedule: Mon.-Friday, day shift work schedule

 

  • Perform laboratory experiments to evaluate the effect of process changes on plant manufactured product. 
  • When necessary for quality control, determine product quality from various stages of the operation by performing application testing and using the results to recommend changes in process parameters.
  • Assist manufacturing supervisors in the scheduling of batches through the strike and press departments as well as dry production areas.  When working in the production floor direct hourly personnel performing duties required in the technical process of the manufacturing operation.  
  • Completes SAP transactions and paperwork associated with department duties (batch accounting, tanker shipping, troubleshooting, etc.)
  • Identify and record product quality problems and investigate the cause of off-quality batches and assist Production Supervisors, Technical Manager and Process Chemists in investigations.  
  • Perform statistical analysis on the process and resultant quality to ensure optimum quality is achieved and equipment usage is maximized.
  • Perform routine physical and/or chemical testing of finished goods, material in process, or raw materials.  Perform routine calculations as required by testing procedures.  
  • Ensure adequate test materials are always available for instrument calibration and assist in calibration when necessary.

 

Requirements

  • B.S. in chemistry or other science related degree
  • Requires knowledge of product code specific types of information in order to formulate blends and address plant problems as it relates to the area of responsibility.  
  • Must be knowledgeable of relevant laboratory test protocol and instrumentation.
  • One to three years’ experience in the chemical industry or equivalent work experience in the pigment industry is preferred.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate and direct hourly personnel in the technical process of the manufacturing operation.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks at one time.  
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Previous experience in MS Office.
