POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Production Engineer is the primary technical support for the Operations Group to drive sustained improvements in safety, quality, productivity and cost.  Using engineering experience, knowledge and fundamentals of manufacturing, this position is designed to optimize, troubleshoot, de-bottleneck, monitor and improve all unit operations on site.  In addition, provide engineering support and know-how to the Product Development Group, lead Operational Excellence Teams on site improvement initiatives, and manage small scale capital projects from start to finish. 

 

This position is the primary resource to troubleshoot, identify and remedy production, quality, and EH&S-related issues on the manufacturing floor.  Identifies potential opportunities in the manufacturing process where waste can be eliminated.  This position develops, maintains and updates site standard operating procedures.  Provides training to operators and supervisors for the safe operation of the equipment.  Reviews and improves product quality by developing solutions to production problems, equipment and engineering designs. Develop control plans for sustainability. This position must be familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures to turn around equipment as quickly as possible.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BS in Chemical Engineering
  • 2+ years’ related experience in production, process and/or manufacturing industry. 
  • Proven history in unit operations troubleshooting and optimization. 
  • Experience with production optimization and process design for a broad range of unit operations, including waste treatment, solids handling, reactors, furnaces, dryers and fume scrubbers. 
  • Strong process troubleshooting experience. 
  • Experience in Process Safety Analyses. 
  • Project Management Experience
  • Proficiency in Statistical Process Control principles, strategies and implementation.
  • Proficiency in a variety of computer applications including e-mail, inventory, production reporting and maintenance system (SAP), Statistical Process Control software, word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization
