Process Safety Engineer II North America

 

Join Sun Chemical's Group Engineering team and help drive process safety, risk reduction, and operational excellence across our North American manufacturing sites.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Process Safety Management (PSM) activities, including PHAs, risk assessments, PSSRs, and hazard reviews.
  • Identify and implement safety, reliability, and process improvement solutions.
  • Manage safety-related capital projects from concept through startup.
  • Conduct HAZOPs, support Management of Change (MOC), and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with Operations, EHS, Maintenance, Procurement, and external partners.
  • Support audits, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline
5+ years of experience in process or project engineering within the chemical industry
Strong Process Safety Management (PSM) experience
Knowledge of NFPA, API RP 520/521, AutoCAD, P&IDs, and project management tools
Excellent communication and collaboration skills

 

Preferred

  • ATEX, SAP, ICC, fire protection, and PFAS experience
  • Capital project management experience in manufacturing environments
