Chemical Operator

Title: Chemical Operator
Location: Peekskill, NY
Shift: 12-hour shift on a 3, 2, 2, 3 schedule 24/7
Nightshift positions available 7:00PM-7:00AM
Hourly: $28.91/hr
POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
The Chemical Operator is responsible for mixing/blending of materials, operation of process equipment, material handling, instrument monitoring, record keeping, and forklift operation. Must follow all safety procedures and act in a safe manner at all times.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Efficiently operate equipment: adding materials at designated times and observing chemical reactions; monitor gauges, samples and recorders to ensure timely completion of quality batches per production schedule.
- Adjust controls and valves to maintain systems at specified temperature, pressure and speed.
- Maintain housekeeping at excellent levels, keeping the tanks, floor and reactor deck areas clean.
- Required to operate a forklift in a safe manner.
- Wear necessary safety equipment and follow company established Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- HS diploma or equivalent.
- Possess intermediate computer skills (Use computerized process system, Internet, email, etc.)
- Physical strength is required to operate manual process equipment. Must meet lifting requirements (55 lbs.) and pass physical requirements.
- Must demonstrate ability to be self-directed working with minimal supervision
- Experience in a chemical plant or manufacturing environment
- An understanding and awareness of chemicals and their nature, hazards, safety and health issues etc. (SDS's, use of PPE etc.) is beneficial
Title: Maintenance Mechanic
Location: Peekskill, NY
Shift: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm
Hourly: $32.29/hr
POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
The Maintenance Mechanic will perform duties to install, maintain, and repair equipment at the Peekskill Manufacturing Site.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Troubleshoot and repair utilizing advanced skills in pipefitting, structural steel, pneumatic, hydraulic, rigging and other millwright work on rotating and fixed equipment such as process machinery, tanks/pumps/agitators, furnaces, boilers and general building and grounds maintenance.
- Perform basic welding and fabrication; assist other mechanics in mechanical assignments as required.
- Operate forklift truck and other mobile equipment as required.
- Work in coordination with multi-craft maintenance activities.
- Notify status of work and communicate deficiencies in equipment and/or repair information.
- Understand complicated drawings, design specifications and/or utilizing good maintenance practices and ingenuity to solve problems.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping practices throughout the workplace.
- Communicate all problems or difficulties to the supervision, and utilize current technology as required.
- Maintain and update necessary maintenance records, use basic computer programs, and learn and maintain computer skills to support programs.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School or Trade School Diploma, or GED.
- Experience working in a chemical, refining, or manufacturing facility
- Experience in the safe and proper use of maintenance hand tools and power tools, diagnostic instruments.

Title: Sr. Environmental Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
The Sr. Environmental Specialist role is a key position at the Peekskill site. This position is responsible for helping to ensure that the site meets applicable Sun’s and regulatory agency EHS requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Lead compliance programs related to air emissions (CAA), water discharges (CWA), waste management (RCRA), EPCRA, and TSCA.
- Develop, maintain, and update environmental permits, reports, and records (e.g., TRI, Tier II, NPDES, Title V, Stormwater).
- Act as the site subject matter expert (SME) on environmental regulations and best practices.
- Conduct audits, inspections, and environmental risk assessments; identify gaps and drive corrective actions.
- Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams, ensuring proper handling, storage, labeling, and disposal in compliance with regulations.
- Coordinate and interface with regulatory agencies during inspections, permitting, and reporting activities.
- Lead training programs for employees and contractors on environmental procedures and compliance requirements.
- Support sustainability and continuous improvement initiatives, including energy efficiency, waste reduction, and emissions reduction projects.
- Track and report environmental performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, maintenance, engineering, and corporate EHS.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 5–8 years of environmental compliance experience in the chemical manufacturing or process industry.
- Strong knowledge of EPA, OSHA, and state/local environmental regulations.
- Demonstrated experience with Title V air permitting, wastewater management, and waste minimization programs.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficiency with environmental management systems (EMS) and reporting software.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CHMM, QEP, PE, CSP) are a plus.
- Ability to visual, design, and implement systematic EHS improvements
- Strong skills related to leadership, teamwork, interpersonal relations / communications, customer focus, influencing/impact, work management, and results-orientation
Title: Process Engineer
Location: Peekskill, NY

POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
The Process Engineer leverages chemical process engineering insight towards management and execution of projects at the Peekskill site. The role provides support to other technical initiatives as needed for operational support and plant optimization. In addition, the role works in close collaboration with project managers and functional groups at the site providing technical support where needed.
The Process Engineer will troubleshoot, observe and identify opportunities for continuous improvement of manufacturing processing, equipment, utilities and safety. Through understanding of site processes, data analysis and collaboration with other Process Engineers, Operations, Quality and Safety personnel, initiatives will be presented for consideration.
The Process Engineer will also lead all phases of small capital and/or expense projects as determined by these initiatives, site/business priorities and the capital spending budget. This includes scope development, detailed design, cost estimating, authorization request development, procurement, construction, commissioning, startup, and EHS Reviews. All such activities must be done in accordance with established policies and procedures. Projects must meet agreed-to requirements for cost, functionality and schedule and be completed safely.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Troubleshoot and analyze existing processes to identify safety, reliability, efficiency, and quality improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Quality, EHS, and fellow Process Engineers to develop and implement process improvement initiatives.
- Lead and manage small capital and expense projects from concept through startup, including scope definition, detailed design, cost estimates, procurement, and commissioning.
- Ensure all project activities are performed safely and in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Utilize process data to optimize unit operations and reduce variability, energy consumption, and waste.
- Participate in Management of Change (MOC), Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), and other EHS reviews.
- Support development of standard operating procedures (SOPs), process documentation, and training materials.
- Provide technical support to operations to ensure stable, safe, and efficient production.
- Track and communicate project progress, ensuring alignment with budget, timeline, and business objectives.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- BS in Chemical Engineering
- 3+ years experience in a chemical process manufacturing environment
- Proven history in unit operations troubleshooting and optimization.
- Experience with production optimization and process design for a broad range of unit operations, including waste treatment, solids handling, reactors, furnaces, dryers and fume scrubbers.
- Strong process troubleshooting experience.
- Experience in Process Safety Analyses.
- Proficiency in Statistical Process Control principles, strategies and implementation.
- Proficiency in a variety of computer applications including e-mail, inventory, production reporting and maintenance system (SAP), Statistical Process Control software, word processing and spreadsheets.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization

Title: Warehouse Manager

POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for establishing departmental goals and objectives in the Peekskill warehouse that are in alignment with site and business goals. This role is responsible for acting as the primary interface for shipping, receiving and inventory management operations within the site as well as external interactions with Sun Corporate functions and related 3rd parties. Responsible for setting and prioritizing approved job function execution and reporting. This position is also responsible for coordination with all related service platform functions. Must be able to resolve customer-facing issues and ensure compliance with all national and international regulations for the transportation of goods by air (IATA), ocean (IMO), and public highway (DOT). Continuous improvement of processes to maximize productivity and reduce costs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Values EHS principles demonstrating personal accountability resulting in a ‘Zero-Incident Mindset’. Responsible for progressively and continually improving safety performance and housekeeping standards at the site through active leadership, instilling personal accountability for behaviors, incident follow-up including thorough investigation and root cause analyses, and implementing proper preventative measures to prevent recurrences. - Provide managerial oversight of the daily overall warehouse operating activities of order management, shipping, receiving, distribution, and tolling.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- BA/BS degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience
- Strong communication, collaborative, and interpersonal skills

- SAP Experience, or equivalent MRP system
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
