Overview:

Under the general supervision of the Operations Support Manager, the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor is responsible for leading and assisting with the operation of the departments to quickly and efficiently process customer orders and the receipt of inbound materials. The supervisor would be responsible for ensuring the safe and compliant handling, packaging, and shipping of dangerous goods. The Individual is responsible for coaching/training workers to ensure consistent work methods and compliance with regulations. The Department Supervisor should be knowledgeable in the various modes of transportation and applicable dangerous goods regulations. Strong organizational skills, ability to coordinate with customers, and excellent communication skills are needed. SAP experience preferred

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • The Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily shipping/receiving operations to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient shipment or receipt of goods
  • Oversee employees to ensure that safe and efficient work techniques are being utilized to minimize potential injuries and hazardous conditions.
  • Oversee activities, including order preparation, packaging, labeling, and dispatching in accordance with regulations, and optimize processes to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.
  • Conduct safety meetings and inspections in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that employees utilize appropriate PPE for the task being performed.
  • Executing customer orders in an effective and efficient manner by coordinating with the MRP/Production departments
  • Foster a positive work environment and ensure clear communication among team members
  • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement and prioritizes these opportunities for consideration and implementation.
  • Drives a cross-functional team, encouraging a culture of teamwork at the site
  • Address team concerns and resolve conflicts to maintain productivity
  • Scheduled Department PTO and vacations to ensure the Site Shipping and Receiving functions meet and support customers on time and to full expectations.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of shipments, including invoices, bills of lading, and customs paperwork
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as customer service and sales, to resolve shipping-related issues
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to shipping team members
  • Trains and assists workers in shipping and receiving activities. Provides input on employee performance issues.
  • Conduct periodic cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Determines shipping priorities and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
  • Consults with management to clarify department priorities, identify problems, and suggest changes for improvement.
  • Creating deliveries for all outbound shipments to customer locations or other internal Sun Chemical shipping sites.

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5-7 years of directly related work experience
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office 
  • 2-3 years of supervisory experience
  • SAP experience 
  • Chemical experience preferred

Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000
